Resume Tips
Things To Include on your Resume
- Your name, address, telephone numbers and email address
- Your education history, from latest to earliest
- Your work experience
- Your skills as an employee
You Might Also Wish To Add
- An objective statement
- Any memberships or certifications that you hold
- Languages that you speak
- Software programs you can work with
- Relevant hobbies or interests
Leave Out
- Height, weight, age, date of birth, place
of birth, marital status, sex, race or health information
- The word RESUME on the top of the page
- Salary Information, whether from past jobs or what
you expect to make
- References, personal or professional.
- Fancy type, graphics, text boxes, borders and the
like.
Keep your resume to the point. You don't need to
get it all on one page, but don't use more than two.
Most resumes are electronically
scanned, so
use a type
face that's clear. Don't fold your resume, and
ALWAYS bring extra copies with you.
Use plain white paper,
and
use only one side. Colored
or fancy paper
doesn't
scan well, and works better for unsolicited resume
submissions.
Lastly, and most importantly, proofread
your resume. Have
a friend or family member proofread your resume. |
